Steinbeis MBE
Hej Sverige!
Feb 15th
Seit einer Woche bin ich jetzt im Rahmen meines Steinbeis MBE Studiums in Schweden, genauer in Jönköping unterwegs. In der ersten Woche waren wir bei einem Unternehmen, dass Polkagris herstellt. Eine schwedische Spezialitaet aus Graenna, die wohl jeder aus amerikanischen Filmen kennt. Die Zuckerstangen haengen dort naemlich an Weihnachten immer an den Weihnachtsbaeumen nachdem irgendeiner das Rezept mal mit nach Amerika genommen hat.

Eigentlich sollen die Stangen im uebrigen ein “J” fuer Jesus darstellen.
Heute war ich dann im Tändsticksmuseet einem Streichholzmuseeum – ich muss ja auch mal einen auf Kultur machen 
Auf jeden Fall ist Schweden bisher total gut. Wir haben richtig kaltes Wetter, viel Schnee, teilweise gute Vorlesungen und natuerlich auch wie immer viele Partys. Hat sich also bisher gelohnt!

A summary of things I’ve done so far in Japan:
On Monday all Steinbeis fellows went to a traditional japanese tea ceremony. We were a bit early, so we had to walk through a (typical traditional japanese) garden and wait. It wasn’t that fun, as it sounds, because the temperatures in Japan at the moment are about 30 degree with a humidity of 80%. Just like Darwin during the wet!

After the tea ceremony we drove back to the hotel. After refreshing we went to a typical japanese restaurant and hat a great dinner. We had all sorts of raw fish, japanese beer, sake and of course sushi.

After the dinner was over, we went…. of course! To a karaoke bar We ordered lots of beer and sang together with the japanese fellows all kinds of songs.
Today we visited tmsuk, a company that builds robots. They have some quit impressive robots, especially the big search & rescue robots looked like out of a Terminator movie. Some others were a number smaller and were for home use, like this one, that acted kind of like a dog.

After a long day at the company, we finally drove home. On the way back to the hotel we also stopped at a japanese shrine. Very impressive I have to say. And a welcome change in landscape to the quiet boring city (everything is concrete, packed up and noisy and grey).

Flights to Japan and Korea
May 5th
Like Arne I am also taking part in the next Steinbeis MBE lectures in Japan and Korea. I booked my flights last week. Although it seems that I am pretty close to Japan as well as to Korea, my flights are kind of a horror trip.
On the 18th of July I fly from Darwin to Singapore. On Sunday the 19th I then fly from Singapore to Tokyo and then to my final destination Fukuoka. After my lectures in Fukuoka I have to fly to Korea. This isn’t a problem, but when it comes to flying back to Darwin I have to attend one more flight. The way back starts in Seoul on the 2nd of August to Fukuoka. From there I fly back to Singapore via Tokyo. And finally on the 3rd of August my last flight takes me from Singapore to Darwin. This ends up with a total flight time of 29 hours and a total travel time of approximately 88 hours (both including return). Here a picture to show how long my trips are:

Ne, diesmal nicht von mir, sondern für mich! Und zwar aus Jönköping, Schweden. Geschickt wurde sie von Arne. Ich bedanke mich recht herzlich!
Melbourne
Feb 6th
Vor lauter vollgestopftem Terminkalender habe ich leider gar keine Zeit mir die Stadt anzugucken. Daher hab ich auch kaum Bilder machen koennen. Aber so wie die ganzen Gespraeche hier verlaufen sind, werde ich wohl in Zukunft (das naechste mal am 23. und 24.2) oefter nach Melbourne fliegen, zum einen um an Trainings teilzunehmen, und zum anderen um die Ergebnisse meiner Arbeit unseren Kunden & Partnern hier zu praesentieren. Dann nehm ich wohl mal 2 Tage frei und schau mir die Stadt hier mal gruendlich an!

Salzburg
Jan 5th
Seit gestern bin ich in Salzburg angekommen. Die Stadt ist eigentlich ganz nett, besonders die Altstadt. Unser Hotel hier ist allerdings nicht so der Bringer. Irgendwie gibts nichts – kein Frühstück, kein Abendessen, keine Handtücher. Schlimm.
Naja, nachdem der erste Schock überwunden war, gings gestern Abend direkt mal in die Stadt um was zu essen. Gelandet sind wir im Republic. Ein netter Laden in dem das Essen gut schmeckt und es natürlich auch was zu trinken gab. Die Bilder davon lad ich nachher mal hoch. Bis dahin, gibts ein Bild von Salzburg bei Nacht.
